The Dr. is calling it a medical miracle. He was clinically dead, his heart is functioning at just under 20% and he will be coming home, probably Monday or Tuesday. They can't do anything surgically because there is too much damage from a heart attack they say happened approximately 6 years ago. He is only 55. He will be on meds for the rest of his life. Michael said his personality is different. He is angry all the time. They say that if he don't change his attitude and calm down he will be lucky to make it 2 years. If he calms down, eats right and exercises, he will possibly get another 5 years. The Dr. said that if he continues to be the poster person for miracle heart attack recoveries, who knows, he might get another 10.
Michael missed his family and flew home last night. He is going to be driving down with a friend on Sunday to bring his dad home, probably Tuesday.
Bryan has been back on the road since Wednesday. He wanted to be close to his dad, so he has been going back and forth from San Antonio to Laredo, meeting drivers coming up from Mexico. I don't care for the idea of him picking up loads at the border...I hear that some of those trucks have been hijacked. Bryan said that the trailers don't always meet US regulations. He's picked up loads in Laredo before and he said he can usually count on having blow outs. Going to Laredo is close enough that he can take a load each day by himself and still be back at night to be with his dad.
I need to get busy...everyone is coming here for dinner, and then we are going to the Terror Trail at the Eagles Club. I can't wait to see who is more scared, my daughter-in-law or the kids. My bet’s on my daughter-in-law. She told me she's scared of stuff like that. We didn't know Michael was coming home for the weekend and she said she would be hiding behind Rich the whole way through the trail. I told Rich he was going to have her hanging onto him and Julia in his arms. Looks like it will be Michael who will have his hands full now. I'm wondering if Milaynah will be clinging to mom or Rich. Hopefully Bryan will be home. He was hoping to get a load coming to IL so he could be home for the weekend. Problem is, now that he is solo, it will take him two days to get here instead of 20 hours with another driver. They are only allowed to drive so many hours so that they are not a danger to others. Then he has to be off for 36 hours since he's solo now. It's good they have regulations. I worry a little less that way and the highways are safer.
