Getting things done.

We've been pretty busy this last 2 weeks.
  • We went to the annual dance at the fire department.
  • Our town had the annual town parade and party.
  • Rich's boss brought his 56 Chevy out for the car show.
  • I had lunch with the girls I used to work with.
  • I have been working hard on homework so that I don't have to be a slave to it while we are gone.
  • I have everything we need for our trip.
  • I actually had a job interview with a company that just relocated 10 minutes from us. It is a large company that does international work. I was their first interview...wish me luck!!!!
  • We had our annual bon fire party.
Today, I was recovering. I really didn't drink that much last night but, I had a headache like I had been drinking like a sailor. I only had 4 beers all night. Maybe it was a food reaction. I always make chili and everyone brings a dish to pass.

Next week will be busy too.
  • Monday, I have school and we have plans to go to Buffalo Wild Wings after I cut Rich's hair.
  • Tuesday, I have an appointment for a hair cut and it is Rich's B-day, instead of celebrating, we will be at the A.B.A.T.E meeting.
  • Wednesday, I have school then I'm taking Rich out for dinner to celebrate his B-day.
  • Thursday and Friday, I plan to make a bolero jacket to wear with my dress for the wedding.

We haven't been able to ride much this summer and we were just talking about how much we both missed having a bike trip this year. We have been putting money aside for our trip to CA and for a nice, cash gift for Jennifer and Dave.

This labor day weekend was labored for Rich. He worked on my car all morning Sat & Sun. He got everything done except for the back brakes. I'll never understand why car makers do the things they do. This year Cavalier was built with two different 2.2 and one 2.4 engines and the back brakes had either of two different size drums on any of the three engines. You can't just go into an auto parts store and say...I have this car and need shoes...you have to actually measure the drums to know what size to get. He is getting the brake shoes today after measuring the drums over the weekend. It's like everything that year was an after thought and just kinda mix and match as we go type of thing.

Monday we got to go on a ride. We logged 310 miles, hit a little rain...just enough to get wet...we saw 35-40 mph gusts and it was still a good ride. We haven't got much riding in this summer. We had allot of rain early on. Then we got so busy with other things...friends needing help...garage sales...grandkids...car repairs...etc.

Last Saturday night we went out dancing and again, was approached on the dance floor to teach dance. I appreciate that people think we look good on the dance floor but we are there to have fun, not walk people through dance steps. We would get on the dance floor for a couple line dances and we had people getting between us and on all four sides of us, going in different directions trying to follow us. We ended up yelling the out the counts and pointing to the direction they needed to go. If we got up for a swing, we had people trying to follow and running into us. We got out there for a real fast dance with allot of spins and turns and the singer in the band jumped off the stage and into our path. I squeezed real hard on Rich's left which is our signal to let each other know something is in the way on that side and he just got around him. Places to dance around here are so limited. The office manager at our dentist's office gave Rich a $80 discount on his last cleaning and x-rays in exchange for dance lessons.

I just got a call from my step daughter between the last paragraph and this one...lasted two hours. Good thing I put her in my fave five! This wedding is really stressing out every one. I was just talking to her future mother-in-law last Saturday and she was heading out to look for yet another dress. She has three and is still looking for the perfect one. Men are so lucky, they just wear what they are told to wear and they're done. Rich has been worried about our basement. The neighbor built a garage next to us and hit a drainage pipe, now when it rains we get allot of water in our basement. If the sump pump quit working, we would be in trouble. We got my son to agree to come and stay here while we are gone. He has heating, air and plumbing experience and could handle anything that might happen. One less thing for Rich to stress about! We are really looking forward to the wedding but we'll be glad when it's done.
