Our bat tested neg for rabies!!!!! Whoo hoo!!! We were told that the bat needs to be tested if it was in a room with sleeping people because sometimes you can get bit and not even know it.....Whether that's true or not?????
Any way, I was sooo brave, I took it for testing. The whole time imagining this thing in my trunk chewing through the leather suitcase and flying out at me when I opened the trunk. Now keep in mind, I've handled snakes and not quivered but the thought of a bat just freaks me out. When I passed it along they took it in the back and the girl, (yes, a girl, a little, tiny, girly, girl) took it out of the suitcase, put it in a container and brought it up to show me.
She had a crack in the top and asked me if I wanted to hear it squeal. (No, not like Ned Beatty.) (OK, that was a little sick.) Any way she shoved a small ruler through the crack and he hissed, squealed and showed us his teeth, and they do have sharp little teeth.
All is well and we don't need to get shots.
